The state was formerly ruled by the Pratihara's and when H.H. Maharajadhiraj Shri Rao Kunwar Kasturi Pratap Singh Parihar moved to his In-Law's In Madow Village in Rewa the state was then taken by the Bundela ruler's of Panna and the First Bundela ruler became Rao Padam Singh he was a son of Maharaja Chhatrasal of Panna. HH Rao Hanumant Singh was captured by Britishers after a stiff battle and was hanged . His wife bagheli princess and thakurani Bitto kunwar became sati with him . still sati chabootra is there . present heir HHRao Dinkar Singh Parihar Reside in KOTA.
